Robert (Bob) McCunn
Robert (Bob) McCunn is a seasoned lawyer based in Geneva with a long-standing career focused on dispute resolution in the fields of shipping, international trade, and commodities. He began his practice in marine insurance and general shipping law, handling both wet cases, such as collisions and salvage, and dry contractual disputes involving litigation and arbitration. Over the years, he expanded his expertise to cover oil, LNG, and LPG trading.
In 1985, he became involved in the Brink’s Mat recovery, one of the largest gold bullion thefts in history, which marked the beginning of his specialization in fraud and asset tracing. His experience includes the recovery of stolen art, fraud-related banking disputes, and complex asset recovery actions involving forgery, false accounting, and corporate misconduct.
Throughout his career, McCunn has maintained a strong focus on resolving disputes related to ship sale and purchase, chartering, bills of lading, and commodity trading, as well as trade finance and marine insurance. His work has encompassed both contentious and non-contentious matters, consistently centered on shipping and international trade.
Professionally, he served as Partner at Shaw and Croft for nearly two decades before working as Consultant at Davies Johnson & Co. and Thomas Miller Law Ltd. He later joined Siassi Maccun Bussard and Campbell in Geneva as Counsel, a position he has held for over eight years.
