Michel Bussard

Michel Bussard is a Geneva-based attorney whose practice spans corporate law, tax counsel, litigation, restructuring and cross-border corporate services.

He earned his law degree (Université de Fribourg, 1997) and was admitted to the Geneva Bar in 2000. After six years of experience at KPMG, he joined prominent Geneva firms and later became a partner before co-founding SMBC Law in 2019.

He handles complex corporate restructuring, shareholder disputes, tax litigation (including before the Swiss Supreme Court and the Federal Administrative Tribunal), due diligence mandates, contract drafting, and advising foreign companies establishing operations in Switzerland.

He also acts as director and trustee for foreign groups with Swiss interests, managing ongoing corporate, tax and compliance needs such as contract management, licensing, debt recovery, mergers, liquidations and regulatory relationships.

In recognition of his tax specialization, he obtained a CAS in Corporate Tax Law. Michel Bussard brings to SMBC Law not just technical expertise, but a strong client-oriented posture: long-term relationships, practical tactical advice, and a deep knowledge of Swiss courts and authorities.
